Erik the Black

Erik the Black

Erik the Black was a Viking raider widely known as the man who took Eleanor of Aquitaine away from the Holy Land and into history as the first Empress of Australia. Erik the Black was also the founder of the Kingdom of Papua.

Much of what is believed about Erik the Black comes from the popular stories from the Secret History of the Empire of Australia. Although an ahistorical text, it claims that Erik the Black discovered the fabled Black Rabbit trapped inside an impetetrable box and that the creature led him and Eleanor of Aquitaine to the fabled land of Australia. In reality, Erik discovered the islands of Aotearoa, not Australia.

Other stories from the Secret History of the Empire of Australia claim that Erik the Black was the victim of a near massacre at the hands of Eleanor and the Black Rabbit and that he was able to narrowly escape with their son, Erik the Red, who would become the Kingdom of Papua’s first Keisari.
