In 2021, the countries of the Baltic Sea Alliance announced that they would adopt a unified currency, the Global Krona (GK).
The announcement comes as the countries of the world’s largest unified currency (the Common Sovereign), have expanded their economic power since their adoption of the unified currency.
In his annual press conference, Alliance Commander Vladimir Putin spoke of the effort as a way to combat the economic power of the Common Sovereign countries and draw the countries of the Alliance closer together.
The name of the currency is derived from the Kingdom of Norway’s Krona currency, which as the most economically secure member of the Alliance set the terms of the adoption.
