Environment Council

The Environment Council is responsible for maintaining the built and natural ecosystems of the Empire of Australia. Under the purview of the council is infrastructure related to making the cities of the Empire livable (transportation, waste, sewage, water, power, and communication) as well as maintaining those areas in harmony with the natural world and allowing for nature to thrive in commune with the world of people. The Environment Council is tasked not only with managing all aspects of the built world, but also with making recommendations to Empress for new Décrets that will impact the environment.

The Environment Council of the Empire of Australia operates from the iconic Emerald Tower in New Bordeaux, a sustainable building that generates its own power through solar panels and wind turbines integrated into its spiral design. The Council is divided into seven main departments:

1. Urban Integration: Focuses on blending city infrastructure with natural elements, including the famous “hanging gardens” of New Bordeaux and the floating markets of Port Darwin.

2. Transportation Systems: Manages the Empire’s extensive maglev network and the revolutionary SkyBridge system connecting major cities. The department prioritizes zero-emission vehicles and maintains the Empire’s extensive bicycle infrastructure.

3. Resource Management: Oversees water purification, waste management, and the innovative “Waste-to-Resource” program implemented in 2018 under Décret 3635.

4. Wildlife Conservation: Protects indigenous species and maintains the vast network of wildlife corridors, including the Great Southern Sanctuary spanning from Te Whanganui a Tara to Gloire’à’Dieu

5. Energy Systems: Manages the Empire’s renewable energy infrastructure, including the massive Tasman Tidal Array and the Desert Solar Fields in the Middle Eastern territories.

6. Urban Agriculture: Coordinates the integration of food production within cities, including mandatory rooftop gardens and vertical farms established under Décret 3642.

7. Climate Stability: Monitors and implements measures to maintain environmental balance, including the controversial Cloud Seeding Program of 2020.

The Council works closely with indigenous communities, particularly the Māori Environmental Advisory Board, to incorporate traditional ecological knowledge into modern environmental management practices. Their most recent major initiative was the “Green Cities 2030” program, launched under Décret 3651, which aims to make all major imperial cities carbon-negative by 2030.
