“Meeting the French Ambassador” is a second-year episode of the series Privy Councilors in which the three appointed councilors of Eleanor the Thirty-First meet with the French Ambassador and attempt to hide the Empress’ illness from him. A running gag through the series is that the senior councilor, Solomon, played by Winston Peters, believes that he speaks excellent French, but can’t actually speak it at all and this gag comes to a head in this episode of the series.
